AS their name would suggest, The Ramonas are an all-female tribute to the iconic New York punk rock torch bearers The Ramones.

Conceived in 2004, The Ramonas went through multiple line-ups before evolving into today's fully fledged live band comprising Cloey Ramona (alias Lisa Breyer) on vocals; Rohnny Ramona (Maxine Cahill) on guitar; Pee Pee Ramona (Victoria Smith) on bass and vocals and Cammy Ramona (Camille Phillips) on drums.

On Friday, at The Crescent Communuty Venue in The Crescent, York,  they promise a high-energy, full-throttle one-hour show that will "leave you buzzing for more of that 1976 spirit as these four lovable cretins – their term – rarely even stop for a quick sip of water and a hello.

"It's 1,2,3,4 and they're on to the next hit, and the great thing is that they do it all in their own unique way, wherever they play, from the UK to Europe to the USA".

Not only do Cloey, Rohnny, Pee Pee and Cammy match the speed, stamina and endurance of The Ramones, since last year they also have added their own material to their repertoire, releasing their debut EP, You Asked For It, via their website and iTunes.

This year, The Ramonas are on the road performing The Ramones' iconic 1979 live album It’s Alive, plus more Ramones hits and their own songs, before heading into the studio to begin recording their debut album for release later in 2017.

On Friday, doors open at 7.30pm and support slots go to Leeds garage rockers Nervous Twitch and Clash City Rockers, playing The Clash's self-titled 1977 debut album. Tickets are on sale at wegottickets.com; seetickets.com and ticketweb.co.uk and at Crash Records, Leeds.
