JAMES FORD is to tell Hull KR that dual-reg youngster Liam Harris was “awful” in York City Knights’ shock Challenge Cup win over Rochdale.
Harris, 19, was a surprise call-up at full-back but he went on to give an assured display on his debut, helping the Knights beat the Championship outfit 26-20 in a Bootham Crescent cracker.
Ford was afterwards asked if he would like to have him made available regularly by his parent club, or if he feared Rovers would themselves call him up after good performances at York.
“I’ll tell them he’s been awful,” he replied, tongue in cheek.
“He was great. I’ve played at full-back in those conditions (wind and rain) and it’s really difficult.
“I had my eyes closed thinking, ‘Please don’t kick it to me’. But he was safe under the high ball and composed in possession.
“They think a lot of him at Hull KR and you could see why.”
