A CYCLIST suffered an ankle injury in a crash with a car.

The 22-year-old man was cycling up Poppleton Road, York, when a small, red car pulled out of a junction on the left hand side and collided with him, North Yorkshire Police said.

He suffered minor injuries and damage to his bike, but the driver did not leave any details after checking on the cyclist.

The crash happened on Tuesday, March 7, at around 7.15pm, but police have only released details today.

The driver is described as in his twenties, around 5ft 6'', of stocky build with short ginger hair. It's thought he had freckles and a red mark on his face, possibly a small cut.

His passenger was described as mid twenties with short brown hair, over 6ft tall and has an athletic build. He was wearing jeans and a zipped top.

Any witnesses or anyone who recognises the descriptions of the car or the men is asked to contact police on 101, select option two and speak to PC18 Carol Thompson.
