AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of 53-year-old York man Shaun Skelton.
Mr Skelton’s body was found at his flat in Chancery House, Holgate Road, in the early hours of Monday, March 6, after police were sent to the scene.
Coroner Rob Turnbull opened the inquest into Mr Skelton’s death at New Earswick Folk Hall on Monday, and heard evidence from Detective Constable Jamie Fairest of North Yorkshire Police.
Det Con Fairest said police found Mr Skelton's body with "significant injuries", on the floor of his flat between the living room and kitchen. The preliminary findings of a post mortem on Mr Skelton's body suggested he had died from "serious head, neck and chest injuries".
