A GROUP of apprentices with the charity Child.org organised a sponsored walk around York's Bar Walls, with the walkers all dressed up as their favourite kids’ TV characters.
Fiona Hill, Hannah Costa, Ellie Stones and Jess Collins took part in the walk in good weather on Saturday afternoon, along with a group of their friends.
Fiona, 23, of Heworth, said they each needed to raise a total of £1,500 this year for the charity, which is trying to build a world where every child has an equal opportunity, and she had raised £700 through the walk.
She said they walked twice around the walls to complete a distance of 6.8km, which was the average distance that a child in East Africa walked to school every morning.
She thanked several businesses, The little Apple bookshop, Mullen and Mullen, Style Flooring of York, R Newton's of Heworth and Heworth Coffee House, for sponsoring them.
