THE record-breaking Yorkshire Rows will share tales of their seafaring adventures at a special fundraising evening.

Organised by Yorkshire Cancer Research’s Galtres Committee, Yorkshire mums Helen Butters, Frances Davies, Janette Benaddi and Niki Doeg will talk about becoming the oldest all-female crew to cross an ocean when they successfully completed the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in February 2016.

The team battled blisters, salt rash and sleep deprivation on their 3,000 nautical mile journey from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to English Harbour, Antigua, finishing in 67 days, five hours and two minutes.

This week, the women released a book about their inspirational story, Four Mums in a Boat, and there will be a book signing following the presentation.

The event will take place at The Galtres Centre, Easingwold, on Friday, April 7, and will include cheese, wine, coffee and cake.

Wendy Stirke, chairman of the Galtres Committee, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming the Yorkshire Rows to our cheese and wine evening.

“This is an incredible story of four normal, working mums who put their Yorkshire grit to the test and achieved their dream. It’s a fantastic example of what can be accomplished through hard work and determination.

“We hope that as many people as possible will join us to raise vital funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research, which aims to raise awareness of cancer, promote screening programmes and fund innovative research projects, from diagnosis to end-of-life care.”

Doors open at 7.45pm and the talk will begin at 8pm.

Tickets cost £25 are available from The Galtres Centre, The Flower Shop, Easingwold, on 01347 822963 and committee members.
