A 55-YEAR-OLD man has been flown to hospital after falling from a roof in a village near York.
Firefighters were called to help lower the man to the ground after he fell on to a first floor roof at the property in Chantry Lane, Bishopthorpe, at 3.35pm on Thursday.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said he fell from a roof window in a second floor roof of the premises next door and suffered chest injuries.
A spokesman said a crew from York and a specialised rescue crew from Tadcaster went to the scene to assist after being called in by the ambulance service.
He was lowered to the ground floor using a stretcher, various ladders and line rescue equipment before he was taken to hospital by air ambulance helicopter.
