POLICE are clamping down on antisocial behaviour by people on mopeds and in vehicles in the north of York.
Officers have stop checked more than 50 vehicles, with 12 vehicles and mopeds seized so far, for a variety of traffic offences, vehicle defects and tax or insurance offences.
They have been stopped as part of Operation Confiscate, launched more than two weeks ago.
Sergeant Colin Sutherland, of the York North Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “This is a proactive operation instigated in response to concerns raised by the community in the York North Neighbourhood Police Team area.
"Along with our colleagues at North Yorkshire’s Roads Policing Group, we have proactively dealt with those committing traffic offences whilst our colleagues from the DVSA have mechanically examined vehicles for their road worthiness.”
