COUNCIL workers who help people with advice about social care have been rated as “excellent” by an independent survey.

Mystery shoppers praised the social care advice, information and services in York, which they said were among the best in the region.

Between November and January the survey tested the advice available through telephone services as well as the website, the main council reception, and out of main office hours services.

Cllr Carol Runciman, the executive member for adult social care and health at City of York Council said: “I’m really pleased that the ‘mystery shoppers’ have praised our contact services for adult social care for the support they offer.

“We know that many people who contact us don’t always know what help and support is available or who to contact for information.

She added: “I’d like to congratulate all the staff involved for their continued hard work and dedication and would like to thank the mystery shoppers for their constructive feedback.”
