CONGRATULATIONS to York Nomads Society for reaching the North Riding County Cup final.

The Fastpack Ltd York Sunday Morning League side overcame Marton Cricket Club in the last four to progress.

There was also League Cup action last weekend, as holders Wigginton Grasshoppers progressed to the semi-finals with a narrow win over Hambleton.

Tom Derbyshire scored Wigginton’s opener by slotting the ball home under Hambleton’s goalkeeper to ensure the scores were level at the break. But it only took Wigginton five minutes of the second half to go in front with another goal from Derbyshire.

Jake Duckworth, on his Grasshoppers debut, scored a neat chip to take the score 3-1. Hambleton scored a penalty in the last couple of minutes but it wasn’t enough for them.

Hounds comfortably beat fellow division one outfit Bubwith 6-1.

The score was 1-1 at half-time but Hounds managed a further five goals to seal the victory. Sam Cable scored a hat-trick, Luke Pearce a brace and Christopher Jackson also netted.

In the final League Cup tie, two division two sides came up against each other, in York Medics and Selby Olympia.

Selby showed why they are top of the league with a 2-1 win. It was scoreless at half-time though, before Tom Lazenby and Christopher Thompson netted for Selby. Nabeel Illahi scored the only goal for Medics.

In division one, NUR met Marcia Bishopthorpe in a close encounter. Marcia won the game 3-1 to leapfrog their opponents into sixth.

Marcia were leading 1-0 at half-time and went on to win 3-1, Rob Constable scoring the consolation goal for NUR.

In division two, Bramham came up against Beeswing and managed to jump above their opponents.

Bramham took a 3-0 advantage into the half-time break, eventually winning 5-1.

Tom Wilson bagged a brace, while Anthony Walsh, Josh Wilson and Andy Maxted also scored. Alex Day netted the only goal for Beeswing.
