TWO dogs were killed and one man had to be rescued from a roof after a serious blaze broke out in a house in North Yorkshire.
Fire crews were called to the fire in West Acres, Byram, in the Selby district, at about 6.50pm on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze caused "extensive" fire, heat and smoke damage to the kitchen and "severe" damage to the remainder of the house.
The spokesperson added: "One male was rescued from flat roof by a neighbour and treated on scene for smoke inhalation. Two dogs were fatal.
"Smoke detectors fitted in the property and activated but not reacted to initially.
"The cause is believed to be an electrical fault on an immersion heater."
