YORK leukaemia patient Sue Maule-Farrell will fulfil her dream of singing with Take That when she performs with tribute act Rule The World at York Barbican on April 29.

The 7.30pm show is a charity event in aid of Leeds Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant and will be an especially memorable event for brave Sue, whose health took a turn for the worse 12 years ago when she was diagnosed with leukaemia and required a bone marrow transplant.

She had always enjoyed singing, cherishing a wish to perform on stage with Take That. When Rule The World's Dan Maines, Matt Hall and Gabriel Keogh heard Sue's story, they promptly invited her to join them at the Barbican to perform the “Lulu” section of Relight My Fire.

A delighted Sue said: "The bone marrow unit in Leeds holds a very special place in my heart after my life-saving transplant in 2009 after battling leukaemia for 12 years; the expertise and care I received from Professor Cook and his team was amazing. The Barbican event gives an opportunity to raise money for more research needed in order to find a cure. Me singing with the guys will be a bit of a laugh for my family and friends.”

Rule The World have toured Europe for more than eight years, even performing alongside the real Take That on BBC1’s The Graham Norton Show, when Gary Barlow said of Maines's singing: "He sounds like me!", later adding, "They’re very good these boys!"

The trio's portrayal of a Take That concert takes in such hits as Never Forget, Greatest Day, Back For Good, Relight My Fire, Everything Changes, Shine and Pray. Tickets are on sale on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person from the Barbican box office.
