UNIVERSITY isn’t for everyone - especially not with fees of £9,000 a year.
So it is great to see more and more young people returning to apprenticeships.
In many ways, they’re a win-win. As 19-year-old apprentice electrical engineer Sam Magowan says in today’s newspaper: “I get my funding paid for and a wage at the same time.” What’s not to like?
Of course, we’re all in favour of young people getting the best education possible. There are plenty of opportunities for those interested in doing a degree.
But for those who want to get practical skills - with the possibility in many cases of going on to university afterwards - apprenticeships are a great option.
