TWO people have been arrested on suspicion of running a brothel in York.
The man and the woman, both aged in their fifties, were both arrested in the early hours of Valentine’s Day, at separate addresses in the city.
North Yorkshire Police said they were acting on information provided by members of the public that a brothel was being run from a property in The Groves area.
Inspector Lee Pointon said evidence had been seized from the scene, and both individuals had since been released on bail while the investigation continued.
He said: “This operation was part of Operation Cocoon, and there will be more activities coming up in the community with extra patrols and events.
"We will respond to any information provided by the public, so please, if you have a concern or information you think we should know about, phone 101.”
