POLICE swooped in a York city centre street today to arrest a man.
The 35-year-old York man was arrested at about noon in Walmgate, near the headquarters of The Press.
He was pinned against a wall and items removed from his pockets by a group of officers before he was taken to a waiting police van.
A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the man was arrested for 'going equipped for theft', and remained in police custody.
