A TEN mile run is to return by popular demand to York for a third year this autumn - and will be staged again on the day of the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon.

The Plusnet Yorkshire 10 Mile on Sunday, October 8 will start and finish at the University of York - just like the marathon - and take in a section of its 26.2 mile course through the city centre and the Yorkshire countryside.

“Entrants will get to soak up the unique atmosphere and enjoy the support of the large and enthusiastic crowds that have become such a feature of the marathon since its launch in 2013,” said event manager Lynne Preston.

“There is always a fantastic atmosphere on marathon race day and the 10 mile run gives even more people the opportunity to be involved.”

Runners can raise money for a good cause of their own choice or for one of the event’s partner charities. Runners could apply to enter from yesterday morning, and organisers said places were being snapped up but there would still be some available today by going to www.theyorkshiremarathon.com
