A BURGLAR who targeted a young man with learning difficulties has been jailed for three years.

Viki Page, 35, persuaded the victim to lend her £5 claiming she had just broken up from her boyfriend, persisted in offering him sexual favours for money until he handed over his bank card and then raided his home while he was out, said Ken Green, prosecuting at York Crown Court.

She had 90 previous convictions and went on to commit more offences after police tracked her down and had found the Wii console and Wii games she had stolen from the victim in her home.

Judge Paul Worsley QC told her: “This is a serious offence of its nature,” and jailed her for three years.

Page, of Fossway, off Malton Road, York, pleaded guilty to burglary. Two theft charges involving a different complainant, which she denies, were left on file, which means they appear on her criminal record, but are not convictions.

She read out a letter to the judge saying: “I am so ashamed. I fully regret my behaviour under the influence of street drugs selling my body.”

For her Glenn Parsons said she was a sporadic burglar and there had been a 12-year gap between the first and second burglaries. She was also a heroin and crack cocaine addict who wanted to be a good mother to her daughter.

Mr Green said the victim lived alone. On May 12, he lent Page £5 in the morning, thinking he wouldn’t see her again, but later she went to his house and he let her in.

There she made sexual advances to him and said she would have sex with him for £60. He refused, but she persisted until he agreed to pay £20 for touching her sexually.

He gave her his bank card and PIN number so she could get the money from his bank account. She left her handbag as a “deposit” but didn’t return. After waiting some time, he went out and when he returned, found someone had ransacked his living room.

Mr Parsons said the house door was left unlocked.
