A LARGE York pub has re-opened following a £158,000 revamp.
The Clifton Hotel on Water Lane has been refurbished by owners Punch Taverns, and is now open for customers again.
Landlord Paul Watson said the refurbishment was about giving the Clifton Hotel a new lease of life. The pub now has new lighting and toilets, an improved children’s play area and garden.
He added: “We have the same great team in place who are dedicated to delivering excellent customer service and hope that our regulars, and new customers alike, are as pleased with the pub’s new look as we are.”
MP Rachael Maskell has joined staff, customers and local councillors to mark the reopening.
She went along to the opening with Clifton ward councillors Danny Myers and Margaret Wells. Ms Maskell said: “I was impressed with the changes made at the pub and I’m sure that people living in the neighbouring estates will be proud to call it their local.”
