ENERGY advice events are to be held in Guildhall, Micklegate and Clifton wards to help people save money on their fuel bills.

Citizens Advice York is putting on the events, funded by ward committees in the three areas, to give people targeted advice and to help the estimated 12,000 people in York who have to spend more than 10 per cent of their income on fuel.

In Guildhall ward the events will be at York Explore Library Square from 10am until 1pm on Friday, January 20, January 27, and February 3.

The Micklegate ward events will be at the Bar Convent on Blossom Street, from 10am until 1pm on Friday, February 10, February 17 and February 24.

The Clifton ward events will be held in March, exact times and locations to be confirmed.

People are invited to go along with their energy bills, for help to find the best energy supplier and save money, and to find if they could get energy saving measures and support, or grants for wall or loft insulation.

Energy Adviser Janet Thompson said: “Citizens Advice York is here to help.

“We can check the savings and help people switch if they decide to.

“On average people save £250 per year – and it’s easier than they think.”
