LUCY Pearman will be dressed as a big egg in York on Sunday, all in the cause of comedy in her Crack In Progress gig at The Basement, City Screen.

"We're delighted to bring Lucy's cult Edinburgh Fringe show to The Basement," says Burning Duck Comedy Club promoter Al Greaves. "The venue she performed at in Edinburgh only held a maximum of 30 people, so it will be a delight to present Lucy in a bigger professional performance space."

What happens in Crack In Progress, Lucy? "There’s an egg here to find other eggs and see if they're OK?," she says of a show designed for anyone aged 18 to 99 that "ever had a little crack from Lucy Pearman, from LetLuce, Weirdos and The Bill".

Additional support acts are yet to be confirmed beyond a definite appearance by one Peter Bread, a York tour guide and baker who has pioneered York’s first ever Toast Walk. Apparently, the walk "bypasses York's boring supernatural history and instead concentrates on telling the history of the city through baking...since the incident with the council".

Maybe you should take that cryptic introduction to the Toast Walk with a pinch of salt, particularly as allegations that Peter Bread is none other than Burning Duck supremo Al Greaves, beneath a hat, are at present unverified.

"With upcoming confirmed shows from the likes of Rob Auton, James Acaster, Alfie Moore and upcoming acts like Brennan Reece and Kiri Prichard McLean, Burning Duck continues to showcase the best in new, up-and-coming performers alongside established national and international acts, many of whom you might have heard on the radio or seen on TV," says Al.

Sunday's 8pm show carries an 18-plus age restriction. Tickets cost £8 online at picturehouses.com/cinema/York_Picturehouse/film/burning-duck-lucy-pearman/tickets/10195 or £10 on the door from 7.30pm.
