Three men and a woman have denied conspiring together to murder a York man.

Paul Michael Rishworth, 29, of no fixed address, Scott Lewis Hurst, 28, and his partner Keely Ann Hurst, 23, both of James Street Caravan Site, York, and Kieran Harris, 21, of Bell Farm Avenue, York, entered their not guilty pleas at Leeds Crown Court.

All four denied conspiracy to murder Matthew Carney and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Mr Carney. The offences are alleged to have occurred on August 12 in east York.

The Recorder of Leeds, Judge Peter Collier QC, confirmed that their trial will be held at Leeds Crown Court on May 15 before a High Court judge.

He remanded Scott Hurst and Rishworth, who both appeared in court via video link from prison, in custody and released Keely Hurst and Harris on conditional bail.
