A FORMER City of York Council leader who lost eight stone for charity is to tackle his first marathon.
James Alexander was leader of the authority from May 2011 to November 2014.
He is determined to continue his healthy lifestyle by running the London Marathon in April.
Mr Alexander is raising money for IDAS; a charity providing support for anyone experiencing or affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence.
He said: “I like a challenge but I do not underestimate how difficult this will be. I am spurred on by the difference we can make together so I hope people and businesses will get behind IDAS and sponsor me for this important cause.”
Mr Alexander hopes to raise £2,000 for the charity.
