A MAN has been arrested and bailed after a stabbing in York city centre.
North Yorkshire Police said an altercation involving two men took place outside and opposite the One Stop shop in Walmgate, on both sides of the road, between 6.30pm and 6.55pm on Friday.
A spokesperson for the force said: "The victim, a man in his 40s, from York, sustained serious injuries, including stab wounds, requiring hospital treatment.
"A 43-year-old man from York was arrested nearby on suspicion of wounding, and has been released on bail as enquiries continue."
DC Robert Brook, of York Serious Crime Team, added: “This was a very busy time of day, and members of the public will have walked past or seen what was going on. I would ask them to contact the police or Crimestoppers with any information.”
