A GEOGRAPHY student is hoping breast cancer patients will benefit from her 240-mile foreign trip.

Keen cyclist Flora Smith, 18, plans to cycle from London to Paris in July.

The Bishopthorpe undergraduate currently doing a combined degree in geography and history at Loughborough University, wants to raise £995 for Breast Cancer Now.

She said: “I’m really excited about it. It is something to work at. I like being outside and doing something extra-curriculum apart from my academic work.”

The former Mount School pupil completed week-long cycling tours in Wales, Scotland and Norfolk when an Explorer Scout and will be doing training rides in the East Midlands to prepare for her trip during the university vacation.

She has set herself a target of £995 on her page on the everyday hero website: https://l2p17.everydayhero.com/uk/flora-smith

More than 220 students from Loughborough, Durham and York Universities are expected to join her on the ride.
