HEALTH leaders in North Yorkshire have been summoned to an urgent summit about the future of services in the county.

NHS bosses will be asked whether they have plans to downgrade or close any more facilities in the county.

North Yorkshire’s Scrutiny of Health committee has called the meeting, due to “grave concerns” about NHS England’s plans to re-organise services and the impact this will have on a large rural county like North Yorkshire.

Chairman Cllr Jim Clark said they are worried the plans are centred on hospitals in large urban areas and could leach money away from North Yorkshire’s rural areas.
