A UNION says a York confectionery firm has threatened to take a ‘grudging’ pay offer off the table unless it is accepted by tomorrow.
The GMB said further strike action by its 90 members at Tangerine’s factory in Low Poppleton Lane was inevitable over the offer of 1.25 per cent, backdated to April with a 15 minute break.
It also claimed that picketers during previous strikes had been told they would face action for unauthorised absence and claimed their strikes could cause Christmas shortages of sweets.
A Tangerine spokesman denied sweet supplies would be affected but confirmed workers had been given their final opportunity to accept the 2016 pay offer by tomorrow, or it would no longer be valid because the company was heading into a new year.
