THE Charlatans' Tim Burgess is predicting "an unforgettable night" when his long-running baggy band play Scarborough Open Air Theatre on June 16 next summer.

Formed in 1989, Burgess and co have chalked up 22 Top 40 singles and three number one albums, 1990's Some Friendly, 1995's The Charlatans and 1997's Tellin' Stories, and their 12th studio set, 2015's Modern Nature, peaked at number seven.

Such singles as The Only One I Know, Weirdo, Just When You're Thinkin' Things Over, One To Another, How High, North Country Boy and Come Home Baby have become indie-rock favourites.

“We've played some truly memorable gigs in Yorkshire down the years and we expect another unforgettable night in Scarborough next summer," said Burgess, who will be performing alongside Mark Collins, Martin Blunt and Tony Rogers. "Yorkshire crowds have always been among our warmest and loudest supporters and we cannot wait to play for them again.” .
