THE York MS Society has celebrated 60 years of supporting local people affected by multiple sclerosis with an event at York Minster attended by more than 300 people.
Spokeswoman Jackie Chapman said that in 1956, when the group was first started, little was known about MS and there was no treatment.
Since then, help had been provided for thousands of MS sufferers. The Minster event included a short address by MS Society chief executive, Michelle Mitchell. Dawn Hunter spoke about her experience of living with MS and there was music from Main Street Sound and Warthill CoE Primary School.
