A TEENAGER has admitted a raft of drugs charges and handling criminal property - and has been told he now faces a spell in prison.

Shaun McCauley, 18, of Devonshire Place, Liverpool, appeared at York Crown Court via video link from Her Majesty’s Prison Hull, where he is on remand, to plead guilty to eight charges relating to incidents which took place over three days in October this year.

He spoke only to confirm his name and to enter eight pleas.

He first pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing criminal property, which involved him being found with money on October 24.

McCauley also admitted another three charges of possessing criminal property on October 26, October 29 and November 3 respectively.

The teenager admitted two other charges of converting criminal property, and is said to have converted £3,250 in money on October 29 of this year and an unknown amount on November 1.

The drug charges he admitted in court include possessing Class A drugs heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply on October 29.

The court heard the Merseyside teenager has a previous conviction for common assault.

He was remanded in custody over Christmas until next month, when he will be sentenced at York Crown Court.

The Honourary Recorder of York Judge Paul Batty QC told McCauley it is inevitable he will go to prison, and all that was in question was the length of sentence he will serve.

He said: “These are serious matters that you have admitted and a custodial sentence of some length is inevitable.

“You will be sentenced by a judge on January 20.”
