YORK sweet factory Tangerine was hit on Thursday by a wave of one-hour strikes over pay – with more planned for next week.
The GMB union said the walkouts were staged at the start or finish of the day’s three shifts at the site in Low Poppleton Lane and were well supported.
A spokeswoman said another set of one-hour strikes was currently planned for next Wednesday, although the union wanted to resume negotiations with Tangerine and had asked the arbitration service ACAS to get involved.
Tangerine said earlier this week it would continue supplying customers with sweets, and its door remained open to the union.
