A TOTAL of 19 jobs are to go at a major York employer, though ten new roles will also be created there.

Holgate-based CPP said the posts being lost were on its UK operations side due to a reduction in the number of people calling the company directly.

The ten new roles are in a number of areas, including IT, marketing, sales, HR and research, some of which are intended to support CPP’s overseas expansion.

Jason Walsh, CPP’s chief executive, said: “Over the last 18 months significant progress has been made in turning the business around, with particular attention focused on generating long-term value and growth.

“As a business we have been growing internationally for some time and we have recently undertaken a review of our UK operations.

“As the result of a need to refocus these operations ahead of future, more stable, growth, there will be a small number of jobs losses within our UK operations team.

“We are currently looking to grow certain other group and UK functions across a number of areas.”

Will Oaten, UK country manager for CPP , said: “Due a number of factors, including process efficiencies in our UK business and reduced customer contact, we currently find ourselves over capacity and we must address this now to lay the foundations to future success.

“Consequently, we announced recently a proposal to reduce the headcount within the UK operations team.”

CPP employed about 1,200 people at its York operation in 2010-11, a figure which now stands at about 300.

Shares in the company rose a few weeks ago when it said in a trading update that its profit for 2016 was likely to be higher than initially suggested when it released its half-year results.
