A POPULAR children’s author will visit young actors as they perform her Christmas musical at their schools.

Karen Langtree, from York, is going into the city’s schools over the coming weeks to watch performances of her Angel Small production.

As a special idea to inspire the children, Karen is going into the schools free of charge to read from the book and teach children a song from the musical.

Karen attempts to attend every performance she can, which the schools and the families of the children love.

She makes copies of the book available, which are signed personally for the children reading them, and she donates some of the proceeds to the school.

It is then left up to the school to decide whether they would like the money to be a contribution to school funds or whether they want to donate the money to a chosen charity.

In previous years Karen has raised hundreds of pounds by going into schools and working with youngsters, and she says the schools have really loved the involvement and excitement of an author visiting and working with the children.

York Press:

Meanwhile, as well as visiting children across York, Karen will also turn her attention to singing with the York City Gospel Choir at their upcoming Christmas events this year.

Karen also sings with York City Gospel Choir, and this year they are performing a concert at Haxby and Wigginton Methodist church, to support and raise money for Christian Aid.

As well as singing solos with the Gospel Choir, we also make Karen’s books available for sale and signing, thereby raising money for both the charity and to help fund the Gospel Choir, which provides their services for free.
