YOUNG people in York got into the spirit of Children in Need by taking part in a variety of fun-packed activities in aid of the annual appeal.

At Clifton Green Primary School, pupils created a mannequin challenge video last week, which has been viewed by about 14,000 people over the last few days .

This is a viral video craze, and involves people imitating mannequins and freezing for the camera while music plays in the background.

The pupils met BBC Look North presenters Harry Gration and Lara Rostron, who paid a visit to the school as part of their selfie challenge.

They spoke to the children about being TV presenters and took a selfie with the pupils.

The school held a special assembly, where the pupils could do an activity they enjoy.

This included piano playing, juggling and origami making.

In addition, a non-uniform day was held at the school.

Meanwhile, three boys held a Lego-themed event at the village hall in Low Catton, East Yorkshire, and raised £324 for Children in Need.

Jackson Bryan, Samson Moat, and Fred Pye built their Lego collections into many weird and wonderful creations to share with all the visitors.

Activities included Lego challenge building, gingerbread decorating, Lego-themed colouring, and a giant Pudsey collage, and there was also cake on offer.

Sixth form students at Joseph Rowntree School did their bit for Children in Need by dressing up for their annual fancy dress parade and raising about £263.

Child studies students at York College supported the appeal with a sponsored silence, cake sale and collections.

This year, Children in Need raised a record-breaking £46.6million.
