YORKSHIRE’S Winter Wonderland opens at McArthurGlen York Designer Outlet this weekend.

Santa Claus will lead a parade of elves, Narnia’s Ice Queen and others through the centre at 11am to launch the fun before settling in to his Grotto in the Narnia-themed Christmas Village until Christmas Eve.

The attraction is home to the north of England’s largest outdoor ice rink, The Ice Factor, with a 30ft high Christmas tree, and an Alpine-themed cafe, offering warming drinks and homemade fare.

For the first time, the funfair this year is solely comprised of vintage rides from the golden era of fairgrounds.

Visitors can enjoy rare rides like the Brooklands Dodgems from 1937, a stunning 1930s Chair o Plane and a Ghost Train dating from the 1950s.

The funfair will also include a 1936 Speedway and two children’s rides, a 1947 Muffin the Mule Aerodrome and Hush Hush the Monorail, made in 1933.

The rides have all been restored over the last few years by a team of local craftspeople.

The Ice Factor will be open daily from Saturday, November 19 until Monday, January 2.
