STAFF from a York fish and chip shop have travelled to Norway as part of an educational study trip.

Workers at Miller’s Fish and Chips in Haxby and seven other fish and chip businesses in the running for Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year in the National Fish & Chip Awards, visited Ålesund to find out more about the largest sustainable cod stock in the world.

The trip was organised by the Norwegian Seafood Council, and let visitors on board a working fishing vessel to find out more about the science behind the country’s sustainable fisheries management of cod.

The national awards will be held in London in January.
