THE Grand Opera House, York and opera producer Ellen Kent are marking Friday's 7.30pm performance of Verdi's Aida with a competition to win a £550 Ralph Steadman’s Aida print, signed by the artist.
The runner-up will receive a pair of tickets and a souvenir programme for the Opera & Ballet International production on a tour that features the French soprano Olga Perrier and the Russian soprano Ecaterina Danu as Aida and Liza Kadelnik, the celebrated mezzo soprano from the Romanian National Opera, as Amneris.
Artist and illustrator Ralph Steadman has been a patron of Opera and Ballet International for many years. Many of his stunning opera illustrations were created for Ellen Kent or for Harry Enfield's Guide To Opera in the 1990s. You can visit ralphsteadman.com for more information about Steadman and his work.
His beautiful Aida print is A2 in size and is part of a short print run on Museum Quality Smooth Rag, the paper on which Ralph draws his originals, and will be signed by Ralph himself.
Tickets for Aida can be booked on 0844 871 3024 or at atgtickets.com/york
