Rail group to celebrate 50th anniversary with special trips on Moors Railway
THE North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group will celebrate its 50th anniversary with special trips on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway next weekend.
The group was formed on October 28, 1966, in Newcastle with the aim of preserving examples of the two remaining steam locomotives which were still working on British Railways in the North East of England.
An illustrated story of the 50 years of the group is being published to coincide with the actual anniversary, with copies available from the group’s sales stand in Deviation Shed at Grosmont, near Whitby, over the anniversary weekend.
