PEOPLE in York are being encouraged to consider adopting children who need a loving, secure home and who are struggling to find one.

This week is National Adoption Week, and potential parents are being urged to come forward especially if they can help older children, sibling groups or children with additional needs.

Those groups of children often wait the longest when they need a permanent home, so City of York Council’s adoption team would like to hear from anyone who is interested in adopting them.

York Press:

The team would also like to hear from people interested in providing an “early permanence placement” in a system which aims for continuity of care where someone who has been approved to adopt could also be a foster carer, so they could foster a child while courts decide whether the child should return to their family or be adopted by the carer.
