The team currently lying fifth in the York Minster Engineering first division had been leading 2-1 at halftime against the club from the Teesside League courtesy of goals from Jason Brown and Chris Rhodes.

Mike Dowse had given the visitors a ninth minute lead with a powerful back post header but Brown put the Moorsiders got back on level terms after running onto a pass from Sarjo Cham.

The Moorsiders edged ahead on 24 minutes when Rhodes head in from a Josh Butler free kick.

Dowse levelled for Redcar in the 53rd minute when smashing a shot past goalkeeper Adam Magson following a cross by Jamie Graham.

Three minutes later, Brown restored Kirkbymoorside's lead after latching onto a pass from substitute Jack Chadwick.

He then completed a hat-trick with a virtual carbon-copy of his previous goal - Magson's goalkick finding Chadwick who sent Brown clear to beat the advancing goalkeeper.

The game was far from over, however, as Kyran Clark scored for Redcar just three minutes later by lobbing Magson.

Josh Butler, Chris Hodgson, Ryan Mintoft, and Cham found the net and goalkeeper Magson produced a vital save as Kirkbymoorside won 4-2 on penalties.
