A PILOT was injured when a glider crashed in East Yorkshire on Friday.

Humberside Police said the glider overshot the runway at Wolds Gliding Club at about 2.50pm, and came to rest in Hodsow Lane.

A police spokeswoman said the pilot was believed to have suffered minor injuries, while a passenger in the aircraft was unharmed.

Traffic had to be diverted for several hours and the road was completely blocked by the damaged aircraft.

The police spokeswoman said authorisation for removal of the damaged aircraft was granted at about 4pm and the glider was removed at about 5pm.
