A CHURCH will throw open its doors for two days to celebrate Harvest.

St Denys, in Walmgate, is to host a Harvest Happening for the wider community of residents and visitors on Saturday, from 11am, as part of York’s 50 Plus Festival.

The event will boast music and provide the great gifts of food - from North Yorkshire farmers and producers - and remember those who are less fortunate.

A choir, dancers and street performers will all be at the church on Saturday and Sunday.

Maxine Waller, artistic director, said: “With the creative talents of our Diamond Darlings; the imaginative young performers of York Dance Works; organ music and poetry readings; support from local traders and many, many more we want to link into the fun of the 50+ Festival and give everyone a chance to reflect on our fabulous heritage.”

Sunday’s event will begin after the church’s 10am service and run from noon to 4pm.
