A MAN who rescued a woman from a fast-flowing river has been nominated for an award.
Mike and Tracey Edwards, off-duty paramedics, were walking their dogs along the River Derwent in Stamford Bridge when they heard someone cry for help.
Mr Edwards ran towards a member of the public who pointed to where a woman had fallen into the water.
He jumped into the river to rescue the woman who was being swept downstream. In fast flowing water, Mr Edwards managed to reach the woman and bring her safely to the riverbank.
Mr and Mrs Edwards hauled the woman out of the water and checked her airways were open and stayed by her side until paramedics arrived.
Mr Edwards has now been shortlisted for one of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service's Local Hero Awards.
