THE Steve Cassidy Band will take to the Joseph Rowntree Theatre stage in York on October 9 for a 7.30pm concert of Songs From Then Till Now.

Sharing the stage with the stalwart York musician will be children from St George's Primary School, where Steve was head teacher for 17 years under his real name of Norman Fowler.

He was given the stage name of Steve Cassidy when he recorded with the York composer and musician John Barry. Mr Fowler still goes into the school each week to teach the choir.

"The children made a great impact on their last appearance at a Steve Cassidy Band show," says Steve. "One of the choir members, Agatha Meehan, has been chosen as one of the two girls to play Annie in York Musical Theatre Company's upcoming production of the musical Annie."

Steve will be performing alongside Steve Flanagan on lead guitar; Colin Berriman on percussion; Mick Hull on bass guitar and guest Dave Kemp on saxophone and keyboards. "Kempy is in great demand for his musical talents and the band are delighted to have him on board for this concert," says Steve.

"Mick Hull will be playing the ukulele and guitar and singing. He too has a regular series of gigs in his own right and his featured spots with the band are always popular. We can broaden our scope with all these talents available and we can promise a varied, interesting and fun evening. Come and enjoy the music."

Completing the line-up for a night of songs of revelry, reverie and romance will be Scarborough singer-songwriter Terri-Ann Prendergast. Tickets cost £10, concessions £9, on 01904 501935 or at josephrowntreetheatre.co.uk
