Iron Fist hidden in leftists’ soft glove

The spokesmen and women putting the case in Labour for Momentum and furthering ultra-Left policies in the party are not acting like the swivel-eyed extremists of the past, but portray themselves as soft-spoken, reasonable people who are working for the good of the party.

In reality the soft glove hides the iron fist. Having watched the serene, innocuous dressage horses in the recent Olympics, a direct comparison becomes apparent. If they were honest and ran under their true banner, these revolutionaries would call themselves the TrotMarx party.

Thanks for hospital care and kindness

A FORMER work colleague and friend, Richard, was taken into hospital by ambulance on June 4, initially into the intensive care unit for a week and then into the care of Ward 33.

Over the preceding weeks the ward became home to Richard as they looked after him and cared for his every need, professional and with the utmost compassion shown. I would like on Richard’s behalf thank all the staff on Ward 33 for for help and would particularly like to thank the auxiliary staff, the carers and cleaning staff for their cheerful approach and kindness.

Keep your eyes on our busy skies

Being an aviation nut I was quite intrigued reading the letters from DM Deamer, (Letters 12/9/16), and John Yeoman, (Letters 20/9/16), about the appearance, over York, of the Boeing V-22 Osprey aircraft.

Green with envy? Moi? You betcha!!

It’s quite a common sight seeing F-15s and F-16s over here, in Stamford Bridge, but they are, inevitably, flying extremely high.

However there is a low-flying corridor on a South/North heading between Stamford Bridge and York.

It is quite common to see RAF Tornados hurtling past at very low altitude. (Why they always fly South to North is not known).

Equally common is the sight of Chinooks flying in the opposite direction.

Similarly it is unknown why they fly in the opposite direction to the Tornados.

A few years ago there used to be regular very low flights of pairs of USAF A-10 Thunderbolts over Stamford Bridge, an exhilarating and wonderful sight!

Another sighting, although not very common, is of a Sentinel or Sentry surveillance aircraft with their huge radar-dish slowly turning and on their long ‘let-down’ to RAF Waddington.

There are, too, light aircraft flying overhead from Full Sutton on a near daily basis with an occasional aerobatic display by one of their accomplished pilots.

So, from high-speed fighter-aircraft to leisurely Cessna’s my “aviation nuttery” is well-served.
