HAVING just read the article in Friday’s Press (September 23) regarding dredging the River Foss, I can say that is exactly what needs to be done.

The Foss runs across the bottom of our garden and when we first moved here in 1962 you couldn’t see the bottom of the river – it was around ten feet deep.

Now the river is only ankle deep and the flood bank that was, is now in the river along with weeds and silt.

Around the mid-Sixties the river board spent in the region of £150,000 cleaning and shoring up the river and banks.

Since then nothing has been done to the Foss at the Huntington end.

So yes, it’s time it was dredged and some money spent on what to me seems an obvious solution to help stop the flooding.
