YORK'S Canon Lee School is becoming the Vale of York Academy, and uniform and curriculum changes are on the way.

Governors have confirmed the school will get its new name in the new year.

The school is in the process of becoming an academy and early next year will be joining Manor Church of England Academy, Poppleton Ousebank, Forest of Galtres and Burton Green in the Hope Learning Trust chain of academies.

As a sponsored academy the school has new leadership, and will soon see its uniform and curriculum change as it starts to work more with Manor.

York Press:

Principal Helen Dowds said the collaboration between the two secondary schools would be unique in York - sharing staff and resources, school trips and events, and creating a shared curriculum at GCSE level.

An open evening will be held at the school on Monday, October 3, 6pm to 8pm with presentations at 6pm and 6.45pm on the plans for Canon Lee.
