HUNDREDS of revellers descended on York’s Knavesmire on Saturday for a feast of live music.

This year’s Yorfest festival, which about 700 people attended, was headlined by Britpop legends The Lightning Seeds.

The festival, held on Saturday, returned to Knavesmire for the second year and featured 24 acts and two stages.

There were performances from The Rifles, The Slow Readers Club and The Glass Caves before the headline set by Ian Broudie’s Liverpool combo, whose hits include Pure, The Life Of Riley, Lucky You and Change.

Event manager Simon Roe said: “It was a great success and every one who attended really enjoyed themselves.

“Once again we had great feedback on our choice of up and coming talent that we showcased on both our stages. A reputation we intend to make stronger as planning is already taking place for Yorfest 2017.

York Press:

“People came from all over the country, even as far as Dumfries, however we are slightly disappointed with the lack of local support. To the people that did support our festival we would like to thank for the incredible Yorkshire welcome that they offered to all the performers. You made all of us involved in Yorfest very proud.”

Last year’s debut festival was headlined by Leeds band The Pigeon Detectives and all participants and suppliers were based in Yorkshire, while this year’s event included help from outside the region.
