FOUR women from Yorkshire who rowed across the Atlantic Ocean will be named Women Of The Year.

The Yorkshire Rows - Niki Doeg, 45, Frances Davies,47, Janette Benaddi, 51, and Helen Butters, 45 - will be among 400 at the Women of the Year Lunch next month named as 2016 Women of Achievement.

The team completed the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge by rowing 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean in ten weeks, raising thousands of pounds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Maggie’s Cancer Care.

They broke the world record for the oldest women to row the Atlantic Ocean.

Janette said: “Rowing an ocean is a truly amazing experience; the sense of achievement and the pride you feel having managed to do it is absolutely indescribable. As women we can achieve so much and I feel so honoured to be recognised in this year’s Women of the Year.”

“When we decided to row the ocean one of our main aims was to inspire other women to show that, despite careers and families, we can fulfil our dreams, no matter how crazy they might seem. There is nothing holding back the power of women and it’s wonderful to be part of the Women of the Year celebrations.”

This year’s event will take place on Monday, October 17, at the InterContinental London Park Lane Hotel.
