TWO men are being questioned by police in connection with a violent incident in Selby, which left a man and woman in hospital.
The incident was reported to North Yorkshire Police at 5.16am on Saturday by Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
Following enquiries, three men were arrested in connection with the investigation.
A 25-year-old man and a 31-year-old man remain in police custody for questioning, while a 32-year-old man has been released without charge.
Police say the injured man and woman are in a stable condition in hospital.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear at this stage."
On Saturday, officers worked to establish the full facts with house-to-house and forensic enquiries in a number of locations in Selby.
One cordon was in place near a block of flats in Clog Mill Gardens and an alleyway in Millgate was also cordoned off.
A resident who lives in the Clog Mill Gardens area said: "It is really quiet around here. You never see police come here."
Police enquiries are on-going and witnesses and people with information about the incident are urged to come forward as soon as possible.
