TADCASTER Albion were beaten for the second time in four days as Ossett Town netted a 3-1 home victory over the Brewers this week.

First half goals from Ashley Jackson and Anthony Mackie put the hosts in the driving seat at half-time.

Jason Mycoe fired in a screamer with four minutes remaining to give visitors a glimmer of hope.

But Ossett sealed the victory from the penalty spot in injury time as captain Alex Peterson kept his cool to kill of the game.

Taddy manager Billy Miller made three changes to the side that exited the FA Cup on Saturday, with Michael Ingham, Conor Sellars and Charlie Binns all back in the starting XI.

Sellars came close to giving the Brewers the lead in spectacular fashion after 24 minutes. The lively attacker was picked out as he darted into the box and pulled off an impressive bicycle kick but Leigh Overton held well.

Devonte Morton was looking sharp for the home side and driving at Taddy’s defence. He almost had a glorious chance to open the scoring after 16 minutes but Andy Milne recovered with a perfectly timed challenge.

The home side looked the more threatening as they kicked down the slope in the first half and deservedly broke the deadlock in the 28th minute.

Steven Ridley's clipped free-kick was flicked on by Peterson and prodded home at the back post by Jackson.

Albion responded positively after going behind with Tom Corner and Jono Greening both having shots at goal, but failing to test Overton.

However, things went from bad to worse for Miller’s side as Ossett doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time.

Ingham rose high to punch clear but looked to have been impeded. No foul was given and Mackie nodded over the stopper, much to Taddy's annoyance.

The Brewers needed to respond in the second half and did, to an extent, pushing Town's defence back.

There were huge appeals for an Albion penalty eight minutes into the half when defender Milne looked to be pulled to the ground but nothing was given.

Moments later, the visitors came close again to pulling a goal back but Corner saw his glancing head drop inches wide of the mark.

With the Brewers pushing for a breakthrough, this left space at the other end for Ossett to all but secure the points. And it was almost three just after the hour mark when defender Tyrone Gay volleyed narrowly wide.

Ingham remained focused in the Taddy goal as Xander McBurnie’s curling effort had to be tipped over.

Jimmy Beadle entered the contest for the away side with time running out, and spurned a good chance with eight minutes to go as he dragged a shot wide.

Two minutes later however, and Tadcaster did pull a goal back to set up a nervy finale for both sides, as Mycoe drove forward into space and blasted in a cracking effort from 25 yards.

But in the dying seconds, Ossett secured the victory from the penalty spot with captain Peterson coolly firing straight down the middle.
